ORIGINAL UNRESTORED SINGLE GARDEN GATE – G28 “ECCLES” 31″ WIDE
– JD3010 19/G28 – 31” Wide
A very old iron gate, requiring a little specialised attention before reuse. It features ‘Spear Top’ finials along the top and spikes at a lower level with vertical round bars. It has some damage on the right hand side (as you look at pics) and a bit of straightening out is required in the middle of the gate at a lower level.
In generally good condition for its age (we think turn of the century), it would definitely benefit from restoration at a forge or metalworker before a good wire brushing and a new coat of paint.
There is no handle on the gate, it has hinge rings but the lower one is twisted slightly – see pics.
Please look at the photos carefully to ascertain the condition of the gate, as they form a vital part of the description.
No additional hardware comes with the gate, only what is shown in the photos. Most DIY or hardware shops can provide fixing kits for gates, or a local foundry could make up whatever fittings you require to use the gates in your particular scenario.
The size suggests a possible use as pathway or garden gate, but some of our clients have used gates like these to make a backdrop for climbing plants or make a feature against a plain wall.
