Description
ORIGINAL COALBROOKDALE VINTAGE LEADED CAST IRON VICTORIAN FIREPLACE MANTLE SURROUND
REF – C02 “THE BURGHLEY” 57”
Price £1,400
Beautiful, decorative Victorian graphite leaded iron mantle made in the Coalbrookdale Foundry in Ironbridge, Shropshire in approx 1900.
Featuring a central frieze with an urn & flowers and swags to either side and a heavy acanthus moulding around the opening, this is a very nice unusual mantle. The top shelf is missing, originally probably iron or wood, it would be relatively straightforward to replace. As stonemasons, our preference would be to make a new top shelf/mantle in black slate, which would cost between £200 – £400 dependant on requirements.
This is NOT included in the price of the mantle but could be discussed with the new purchaser if required.
Offered in restored condition, it has some marks in keeping with its age (see photos)
