This interesting item is the only one we have seen like it in over 50 years of dealing in cast iron fireplaces, so it is definitely unusual and rare.
The item consists of 6 pieces of cast iron that slot together to make the fireplace trim as shown in the photos – there is no firebrick / back / grate
Overall sizes – 550mm / 21 3/4″ high x 550mm / 21 3/4″ wide
It measures 400mm / 15 3/4″ deep of which 250mm / 9 3/4″ protrudes into the room and 150mm / 6″ goes back into the fireplace opening.

We recommend using it in a decorative (non-working) capacity, as it is very old we don’t recommend lighting a fire behind it.
